Acquisition by the Frandino family

The company was acquired by the Frandino family, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its history. Rooted in strong family values and a deep connection to the local community, the business embarked on a journey of industrial development guided by entrepreneurship, passion and a long-term vision. Today, after three generations of leadership and ownership, those same principles remain at the heart of Sedamyl.

SEDA distillery converts into a wheat starch plant

A major transformation took place when the company converted its traditional fruit distillery into a wheat starch plant. This strategic decision marked a turning point in Sedamyl’s history, opening the door to grain processing and establishing the foundations for the production of starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol.

Manildra Joint-Venture

Manildra signed a Joint Venture agreement with Sedamyl. The partnership supported the development of wheat processing activities and strengthened Sedamyl’s position within a rapidly evolving industry.

Amylum Joint-Venture

Uniglad Ingredienti starts in Grinzane (IT)

Uniglad Ingredienti was founded in Grinzane Cavour (Italy) to distribute food ingredients and provide dedicated support to manufacturers across a wide range of sectors, including bakery and beverages. Building on its close relationship with Sedamyl, the company combined technical expertise and market knowledge to deliver high-quality ingredient solutions to customers.

First Organic Production

Responding to growing demand for natural and certified ingredients, Sedamyl launched its first organic production. This marked the beginning of the SEDAMYL Organic portfolio, developed in line with the company’s farm-to-customer sustainability strategy and designed to meet the growing demand for natural and organic products.

Tate & Lyle Joint-Venture

The Tate & Lyle Joint Venture agreement further enriched the company’s expertise and supported the continued development of its ingredients business. The partnership brought valuable international experience and strengthened Sedamyl’s position within global markets.

Tereos Joint-Venture

Starch & Distillery plant starts in Selby (UK)

Sedamyl took an important step beyond Italy with the opening of a starch plant and distillery in Selby, North Yorkshire. Strategically located in one of the United Kingdom’s main wheat-growing regions, the site provides direct access to high-quality raw materials and serves a growing customer base in the British market. The investment marked the beginning of a new phase of international growth for the Group. Over the years, Selby has become a key production hub, strengthening Sedamyl’s position as an international manufacturer.

Uniglad Ingredients starts in Selby (UK)

Uniglad extended its activities to the United Kingdom. The new operation strengthened local commercial support and allowed the Group to work even more closely with customers across the British market. The UK business operates with a broad portfolio of ingredient solutions and technical expertise.

Sedamyl Group becomes 100% family owned

Sedamyl returns to full family ownership. The Frandino family, through its Italian holding company Etea, acquired from the French cooperative group Tereos the remaining shareholding. The acquisition brought all activities together under a single industrial group and restored Sedamyl to 100% family ownership, reinforcing the values that have guided the company for generations. More than fifty years after the acquisition, the roots of our business are the families that formed its foundations.

Distillery plant in Selby is expanded

Continued investment in the Selby site strengthens its distillation capabilities and increases production capacity. The development confirms the strategic importance of the UK operation and supports the growing demand for alcohol products across international markets. Today, Selby plays a central role in the Group’s manufacturing network, enabling Sedamyl to serve customers efficiently across both the UK and international markets.
